This is an interesting approach:

'In an attempt to get hip with Japanâ??s younger generations, the U.S. military is turning to manga to teach the importance of the half-century-old security alliance between the two countries.

The U.S. military is releasing the first issue of a comic book series entitled â??Our Alliance â?? A Lasting Partnershipâ? online Wednesday in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the security treaty. The first publication also comes on the eve of the 65th anniversary of the U.S. atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II. A U.S. representative will be attending the annual peace ceremony in Hiroshima for the first time this year.

The U.S. military said it decided to publish the text in the manga format because of its wild popularity among young adults.

Who needs an arms race when you can win them over with manga?
