A new IISS dossier, to be launched at the upcoming Prague Defence Summit, finds that European NATO members’ defence spending has surged over the last decade. A key target of this increase has been acquiring capabilities to improve readiness. The sustainability of this spending surge, however, remains questionable amid wider fiscal pressures.
