The 28th annual United Nations climate summit, known as COP28, adjourned in Dubai, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, on Wednesday with loud applause from the delegations of nearly 200 nations. They had reached a traditional consensus agreement that they hope signals the “beginning of the end” of the fossil fuel era by providing a roadmap through a “just, orderly and equitable” transition to a low carbon future.
