ne hundred years ago this week our man in Dublin was kidnapped at gunpoint by a branch of the Irish Republican Army and driven off at speed into the night. As The New York Times told it, AB Kay had been lunching with colleagues during a recess of the newly formed Irish parliament’s discussions about the new Anglo-Irish Treaty, designed to end the two-year Irish War of Independence.
