The countries of Central Asia, a region with long historical ties to Russia, have taken different paths in their response to the COVID-19 pandemic. A proactive stance and regional leadership in the face of the calamity, espoused by some of the region's nations, stands in sharp contrast to the strategy of denial embraced by others.
