Cameron's Coalition Already in Trouble

Sensible people should support the coalition, but there is another coalition which David Cameron needs to keep together if his new government is to survive. It is called the Conservative Party.

No major political party agrees about everything; nor, since it represents millions of people and thousands of competing interests, should it. The art is to find ways of containing the disagreements. This is best done if good faith and good manners are visible. In the construction of his deal with the Liberal Democrats, Mr Cameron understands this very well. The generosity of his concessions made the deal possible, and will stand him in good stead as the coalition comes under strain.
