Bangladesh once again finds itself among our global leaders. Its last ranking was a top spot in economic optimism; this time, it's the role of religion in Bangladeshi life that earns the country the top spot on our latest Top 5s list. The fourth-largest Muslim nation in the world, Bangladesh - founded with an exclusively secular government - gradually amended its original constitution in order to accommodate the country's sizeable Muslim population. This has caused tensions and discrimination in recent years against the country's largest religious minority, the Hindus. A sharper line was recently drawn, however, as the country's High Court ruled Islamic fatwas to be illegal and declared religious political parties unconstitutional.
