Late night TV personality Conan O'Brien once famously predicted that "one day a high-speed network of interconnected computers will spring up worldwide, so enriching people that they will lose their interest in idle chitchat and pornography." Indeed. In fact, as the World Wide Web has entrenched itself around the globe it has brought with it both, in abundance. Not everyone is happy with the web's illicit bounties. Ironically, some of the parties most interested in stamping out the web's trove of pornography are Western governments otherwise committed to freedom of speech and a free and open Internet.
