Egypt
In 2009, the government of then-President Hosni Mubarak declared a ban on all pornographic websites, though enforcement was scant. That changed when the Muslim Brotherhood took power. One Salafist MP, Younis Makhyoun, sought to put muscle behind the law with a little help from the Ministry of Communications and Information. As late as May, Egyptian officials said they were ready to begin blocking pornographic websites. It's not clear if a new Egyptian government will pick up the task, but one thing's for certain: Egyptians do enjoy surfing the web's more provocative corners. Five of the top 100 sites visited by Egyptians in 2012 were pornographic in nature -- the highest ranked 15th, ahead of Twitter and Wikipedia. (Image: Jordan Times)
