Saudi Arabia
The desert kingdom earns notoriety for both the sheer number of citizens it executes, but also for the crimes that warrant the ultimate punishment (including "sorcery") and the baroque and medieval method of their deaths. Crucifixion and be-headings (often for the same individual) are not unheard of. Even those spared the ultimate punishment can still meet a gruesome fate. The kingdom was recently debating whether to paralyze a man who had been found guilty of paralyzing another. (AP Photo)
