China
While in China over the weekend, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met with his Chinese counterpart, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, to discuss the ongoing crisis on the Korean peninsula, as well as combined efforts the two superpowers can take to confront the growing threat of cyberterrorism. One topic most certainly left unmentioned during the meeting was Beijing's record on capital punishment. With thousands likely killed on charges such as drug trafficking and "financial crimes," China accounted for a majority of the world's executions in 2012. Amnesty found no official statistics on China's death sentences, but concluded that they total more than all other nations' death sentences combined. (AP Photo)
