No. 5 Alberto Contador
He might've been an unknown in 2007, but after winning his second Tour de France on Sunday, Contador is now clearly the top cyclist of the world. Besides winning the Tour twice, he took both Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a Espana, cycling's other two grand tours, in 2008. The Spaniard dominated the 2009 Tour de France, despite sometime being overshadowed by Astana teammate and rival Lance Armstrong, a seven-time Tour champion who returned after a three-year retirement. Contador is expected to join a new team next year and renew his rivalry with Armstrong's new RadioShack squad.
