A poll on how Kyrgyzstan feels about the U.S.
This is a little old, but a Gallup poll from 2008 shows that Kyrgyzstan favors tighter relations with Russia than the U.S.:
A Gallup poll in July 2008 showed Kyrgyzstanis giving Russia the edge: Nearly two-thirds (63%) said it is more important for their country to have relations with Russia, even at the expense of relations with the United States.
Indeed, throughout Central Asia, Gallup found the same result - either very strong support for close ties with Russia even at the expense of ties with the U.S. or a desire to have good relations with both. If push came to shove, few chose the U.S. over Russia. Something to consider when we hear talk of Russia "exerting influence" over its near abroad.
